The role
As Client Engagement Director at IMCC, you'll be the primary strategic relationship lead for a portfolio of B2B and energy sector clients spanning global markets. You'll own the client relationship end-to-end - from day-to-day account management through to long-term partnership development - ensuring that every engagement delivers the clarity, credibility, and commercial impact our clients depend on.
This is a role for someone who understands the complexity of regulated industries, can translate technical narratives into market-facing strategy, and builds the kind of trust that turns project relationships into long-term partnerships. Our clients operate across the US, Europe, and beyond, so flexibility around time zones - particularly US hours on occasion - is part of how we work.
What you'll do
- Lead and develop client relationships across IMCC's portfolio, acting as the senior point of contact and trusted strategic adviser for global accounts
- Translate clients' commercial and communications objectives into clear, actionable briefs for IMCC's strategy, content, and PR teams
- Oversee account health - including planning, scoping, budgeting, and delivery - in close partnership with project leads and white-label partners such as Mercom
- Ensure that all deliverables meet IMCC's quality standards and client expectations, on time and within agreed parameters
- Identify and develop opportunities to deepen client relationships, expanding IMCC's remit into new service areas where appropriate
- Serve as the internal voice of the client - keeping cross-functional teams aligned on priorities, timelines, and strategic intent
- Anticipate challenges before they become issues, resolving them with clarity and sound judgement
- Travel internationally to support key client moments - market launches, major events, and strategic planning sessions
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of clients' industries, competitive landscapes, and regulatory environments across multiple geographies to provide proactive, informed counsel
What you'll bring
- Proven senior account management experience in a B2B agency, consultancy, or professional services environment
- A strong understanding of complex, technical, or regulated sectors - energy, infrastructure, deeptech, or similar
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to build confidence at board and C-suite level across different cultural and business contexts
- Experience managing multi-workstream engagements across international accounts, including scoping, budgeting, and profitability
- The ability to move comfortably between strategic thinking and hands-on delivery
- A collaborative approach to working with internal teams, specialist partners, and senior client stakeholders globally
- Comfortable with the rhythm of global client work - including occasional travel and flexibility around US time zones when the work demands it
- Comfortable operating with ambiguity and pace - IMCC works at the sharp end of high-stakes market moments
