Senior Strategist

The role

As Senior Strategist at IMCC, you'll sit at the heart of our client work - leading the thinking that underpins some of the most complex B2B communications and market positioning challenges in the energy, infrastructure, and deeptech sectors. You'll bring rigour and creativity in equal measure, translating deep market insight into narratives that move audiences, build credibility, and drive commercial outcomes.

This is a senior role with real weight to it. You'll lead engagements, guide junior strategists, and operate as a trusted voice with clients at executive level. You'll also play an active part in shaping how IMCC thinks and works - contributing to new business, methodology development, and the continued evolution of our strategic offer.

What you'll do

  • Lead strategy across a portfolio of high-profile B2B accounts, ensuring all work is narratively coherent, commercially grounded, and directly responsive to the client brief
  • Develop and own project plans, leading teams of strategists from initial insight through to final delivery
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with executive-level clients, presenting work with confidence and consistently identifying opportunities to deepen IMCC's strategic contribution
  • Author and present responses to new business proposals, articulating IMCC's approach to B2B brand and narrative strategy with clarity and conviction
  • Partner with research and data resources to develop bespoke methodologies that address clients' most complex strategic challenges
  • Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams - including content, PR partners, and creative - to ensure strategy translates effectively into execution
  • Support the growth and development of junior strategists on your projects, and contribute to a culture of rigour, curiosity, and continuous improvement
  • Maintain deep knowledge of the sectors IMCC operates in, bringing proactive thinking and fresh perspective to every engagement

What you'll bring

  • Proven senior strategy experience from a B2B agency, consultancy, or specialist communications environment
  • Deep familiarity with complex, technical, or regulated sectors - energy, infrastructure, deeptech, or similar - and the ability to get up to speed quickly in new ones
  • A strong track record of leading brand and narrative strategy engagements for demanding clients, from initial framing through to creative and communications execution
  • Genuine skill in both leading and making - comfortable setting strategic direction and equally willing to roll up your sleeves when the work demands it
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative research capabilities, with experience developing insight-led approaches to brand and market positioning challenges
  • Exceptional presentation and storytelling skills, with the confidence to hold a room at C-suite level
  • A collaborative working style that brings out the best in cross-functional teams and fosters a shared sense of ownership
  • Flexibility around international client work, including occasional travel and US time zone availability where needed
  • A belief that clarity of thinking is a competitive advantage - and a track record of bringing that clarity to clients who operate in genuinely complex environments
